The increasing presence of decentralised power generation
and storage in modern grids has led to the development
of new agents and interactions. In particular, consumers that
have the potential of exploiting flexibility, can interact with the
physical grid itself or through aggregators that bridge the gap
between these ends users and traditional centralised markets.
This paper aims to provide an insight on the benefits for
both aggregators and end-users from a financial standpoint.
The considered end-users can provide flexibility capacity from
electric vehicle chargers and battery storage. We analyse different
levels of remuneration for end-users, the difference when
no intermediate party is present, and we conclude about the
most advantageous set-ups for both aggregators and end-users.
The results numerically show that some consumers can benefit
more when aggregated, which depends on their behaviour and
specific available flexibility, while others don’t seem to have an
advantageous position when intermediate parties are present.
